This looks like so much fun!! I might have to have a little craft night get-together to experiment with this! I think it would be fun with brightly colored tanks!!

letterpress adventure

I feel so lucky that I got the opportunity to go to Bird Dog Press's studio in Lyons, CO last Thursday night & I had such a fantastic time, I just had to share!! 

I was contacted earlier this year by the lovely ladies from Firefly Handmade to apply to participate in their upcoming spring market here in Boulder, on April 21st & 22nd, but decided I didn't have enough time to fully prepare to have my own booth, so I chose to volunteer my time to help instead. I am so thankful I did! Not only did I get to meet the masterminds behind Firefly, Kristin, Allison & Holland, but I was introduced to the amazing art of letterpress at Allison's to-die-for studio! I am officially obsessed with letterpress, by the way, & feel like I have found my newest hobby! AHH! It was so fun! We were prepping for their 'make & take' prize for market goers - you will have to attend the market, if you live close to Boulder, to see what that prize is!! It was such an amazing night & so fun to be around all of that creative energy! Those Firefly ladies really have a great thing going! 

You should definitely plan to attend the market this weekend - all the info is here! I will be there on Sunday helping. The vendor list looks awesome this year, I am looking forward to checking out the abundance of handmade goods. It's going to be an all around fun weekend!

birthday adventure!

Today I turned 29!! I honestly feel more like 20 so I guess that's a good thing. Creed took me on the most amazing little birthday adventure ever! (I was lucky enough to have the day off!!!) We ventured out & went to the Butterfly Pavilion right outside of Boulder! It felt a little like heaven walking through the doors into the tropical butterfly habitat & seeing all the hundreds of butterflies fluttering around...my cheeks are still sore from smiling so much!!

It was such a magical day!! It also felt a little like "home" because it was soooo humid in there for the butterflies, it felt so similar to a nice hot, humid Georgia spring day! I also got to hold Rosie, the tarantula!!! That was a first for me & kinda fun, plus I got an "I held Rosie" sticker to prove it!! ha!

I am incredibly grateful & overwhelmingly happy that I have such an amazing partner in life, who loves adventures, even tiny ones, as much as me. I have such a happy happy heart! :) hugs & cheek pecks, Meghan

rediscovering, refining & starting fresh

I finally started & finished Razzy's pug embroidery this week! Olive's has been hanging on the pug wall & poor little Razzy needed her own, too. Embroidery is such a fun little craft to do & so relaxing. I used Sublime Stitching's pug pattern & changed it up a bit by changing the font & adding some dazzle.  

I have made the executive decision lately that I needed to take a little step back from my shop. It was definitely a hard decision to make & it's currently on 'vacation mode.' I'm not really sure what this means for the future, but I do know it means that I am going to refine & rediscover & hopefully get refreshed. I want to get away from the made-to-order side of things for awhile & work on some ready-made products. But most importantly, now that I have a job outside of the home, I want to make sure that my attention & energy when I am home is put to use in the right ways, at least right for me. This includes being able to spend time with my family, working out & working on my blog & fun, crafty diy's. If you have ever run a handmade business then you know that there is no start or end to your work day, its a 24/7 kind of thing, it lacks boundaries & it's so easy to get burnt out if you can't find the balance (which was always hard for me to find). I do feel incredibly lucky & loved every second of it when I was doing it but it's time now for me to step back for a bit & re-evaluate & hopefully get refreshed & come up with new, exciting ideas. 

Anywho, long story short, it's been a long time since I felt relaxed & comfortable enough to work on some of my own little projects, this embroidery being one of them. It was such a quick project & I love how it turned out. Although I feel uncertain about my decision concerning my shop, just getting the chance to breathe & refocus has already sparked so many ideas that I can't wait to explore! We shall see where it leads me...

spring time in colorado

I probably need to stop saying how much I love this new state we live in...you guys will just get tired of hearing it (if you aren't tired already) but I just can't help it. Spring has definitely begun to bud in these parts. With it being our first spring here, I wasn't really sure what to expect, but waking up every morning & looking out our windows & seeing all the green slowly budding each day & all the flowers popping up, it's truly beautiful & so exciting!

I've also mentioned that one of our favorite things to do is to take the pugs to the park that is right around the corner from our house. I love having days off when Creed is home because we get to go together,  I so love having that time together & I have no doubts it will be a memory that will stay with me forever. Here are some photos from our little walk to the park today.

This is a gorgeous tree in a little mini park that is right across the street from "our" park. Every time we pass it, I'm always reminded of the scene in the movie Notting Hill where they read the inscription from a bench in a little park, it reads: "For June, who loved this garden, from Joseph who always sat beside her." (so many tears) 

freeeeedooomm!! I love that we can let the puggies off their leashes & they just have a grand ol' time, but always come back to us. 

Such a fun little outing! I can't wait to make so many more memories here!! Hope everyone is having an amazing Thursday! mountain adventures

I feel like I touched a little on this in my last post - but can I just say - that I am falling head over heels in love with this new place we call home - Boulder, Colorado. The more I explore, the more in love I fall. I've heard people refer to this amazing little city as the "boulder bubble," once you're in the bubble you never want to leave & I couldn't agree more. The mix of breathtaking mountain views & scenery with open minded, nice people & hiking biking trails galore makes me feel like we live in a dream world. But please, don't take my word for it, come & see for yourself. You will fall in love too...

Today we went on a little hike up in the Chautauqua trails & once again I just felt overwhelmed with a sense of happiness & gratitude that we chose this place & we are living the life we want to live.

Honestly, these photos do it no justice. You could see for days. & if there was some way to make these scratch & sniff so you could enjoy the amazingly fresh mountain air, I assure you I would do it to share with you. 

It's days like these, I wish I could bottle up every little memory, the cool breeze, fresh air, the feeling of the spring sun on my skin & the hushed sound of the wind blowing in the trees. It was a perfect day. Hope everyone has a great weekend! hugs & cheek pecks, Meghan ♥
