YAY! I finished #16 on my 20 things to do in 2011 list - displaying some of my vintage cameras. I was wholly inspired by this photo by Tim Melideo Photography that I originally saw in this guest post by Hula Seventy on Poppytalk.
I had some frames on hand from a buy one get one sale & just used some Command frame strips to attach the cameras to the wall, the strips are similar to velcro but supposedly don't leave a residue & will be easy to change out if I decide to mix up the display later on. Here are some peeks...
It is a super easy way to make a dynamic display & I really love how it turned out! I look forward to expanding on it. It feels so good to be crossing things off my list, 2011 has been magnificent so far! Happy Wednesday lovies! xo.
oh my goodness!! i LOVE your collection and how you displayed it!!!

ReplyDeleteI attached the cameras to the wall with Command Brand wall strips, you can get them at Wal-mart & arts & crafts store. They are similar to velcro but don't leave a sticky residue & can hold heavier things. So far they have worked perfect!!

Hi Meghan, i just ran into your blog when i was searching for framed camera collections, and how others did this, but especially if i possibly could find the image that i got my inspiration from. And i did :) Close to 6 months ago i found photo #3 from the above posted and it gave me the inspiration to build a wall-collection for myself as well. To give the camera's more exposure instead of gathering dust in a cupboard. So i started the project but took a very large frame as a base and inside that one i shared-out all the smaller ones. A few days ago i finished the job and now it proudly decorates the space above my couch :) Because i posted some images from the result on Facebook, a Photography-magazine picked up the thing and asked my to write a little article about the project. So for a small impression from the result you can visit: http://www.digifotopro.nl/content/camerakunstwerk-van-jurg-roessen
ReplyDeleteI truly want to thank you so much for inspiring me! :)
I really appreciate your comment, Jurg. Your wall collection looks absolutely stunning!!! Congrats on getting it included in a photography magazine! What a great accomplishment! Glad & honored that one of my photos inspired you! :)

ReplyDeletedid the command strips hold up?
ReplyDeleteThey did! & we have moved 3 times since the house shown in the photos, each time I hang them with the command strips (slightly different display) but the command strips have worked great each time! :)
